Steven Royce Sage, Sr. was born on April 29, 1957 to the union of Eugene Sage and Alice White in Kansas City, Kansas. He is preceded in death by his wife of thirty years, both parents, two brothers James Foster, William Sage, one sister Aquila Sage and two grandchildren Lexington Sage and Prezton Sage.

Steven received his early education in the Kansas City, Missouri Public School District.  He graduated from Paseo High School.  Upon graduation, Steven played semi-professional football in Denver, Colorado.

After his football career finished, Steven worked various jobs such as a wood carver, an ice carver and a tractor trailer driver.  Steven eventually went into business for himself as a chef.

Steven met and married Marilyn Bell.  To this union, he had two children, Shunda Sage and Steven Sage, Jr.  He, later, met Katrinka Kirtley.  To this union, Autumn Sage was born.

Steven loved watching his grandson playing football and woodcarving.  He carved a life size wood figure of Derrick Thomas.  He frequently carved ice figures for Embassy Suite on the Plaza.  He was an advid abstract art drawer.

Steven loved to sing.  He could be seen singing a solo at Palestine Missionary Baptist Church on Sunday.

Steven departed this earthly life and entered into eternal life on July 13, 2020.

Steven leaves to cherish his memory: two daughters Shunda Sage-Scaife (William) and Autumn Sage-Osborne (Mykel) both of Kansas City, MO; one son Steven Royce Sage, Jr. of Denver, CO; two sisters Judy Calvin and Aquila Sage; four brothers Eugene Sage, Jr., Joseph C. Sage, Jackson C. Sage, Emmanuel Sage; eight grandchildren Emontee Sage, Amari Buchanan, Kammilah Sage, Martell Buchanan, Keshton Sage, Kholton Sage, Braxton Sage, Bryton Sage; Host of other relatives and friends.

Services for Steven Royce Sage will be held on Monday, July 27, 2020. Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. Funeral Celebration will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m. Internment will be at Leavenworth National Cemetery in Leavenworth, Kansas.
