Tammy Shree Moffett-Thomas was born in Kansas City, MO, on Saturday, January 30, 1960.  The third child born to the union of Robert A. Moffett, Sr. and Lizzie L. Beard.

Tammy was preceded in death by both parents, a brother, Robert A. Moffett, Jr.; and her daughter, Elisha C. Garrett-Moffett.

Tammy attended school in the Kansas City, Missouri School District, Mary Harmon Weeks, Martin L. King, Jr., Manual Annex, and graduated valedictorian from Paseo High School Class of 1978. She later received degrees from UMKC (with honors) and Park University, earning a Master's of Public Administration with distinction.

Tammy met and married Malcolm E. Thomas. To this union, one son, Mark C. Thomas was born.

Tammy loved family.  She was a giver, always sharing and generous to a fault.  She was also an avid shopper, and loved finding bargains and good buys in stores as well as yard sales. She supported entrepreneurship and small black-owned businesses. She enjoyed word search games, Court TV, Ol' Skool Music, (whether gospel or R&B) singing, two-stepping, laughing, and having a good time with her friends and family. She was known and admired for her colossal memory.  She recalled the birthdays and anniversaries of most of the people she knew.

A Civil Servant, Tammy served 40 years as a Claims Authorizer for the Social Security Administration, winning numerous awards and recognition including at least seven times the Regional Commissioner's Citation, and traveled once to Baltimore to receive the National Commissioner's Citation Award. No slacker, she loved her work and was diligent in it.

Baptized April 17, 1966, into the faith of our LORD Jesus Christ at the Starlight Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorate of Reverend C. L. Dixon. She served most of her life in the ministries of choir,  Sunday School, and VBS, also assisting her mother with church and guest events sponsored by the Starlight Hostess Club. Tammy loved the LORD, if you were in a conversation with her it wouldn't be long before she brought up the name Jesus.

Tammy leaves to mourn her passing, son, Mark C. Thomas, Sr.; grandsons, Mark C. Thomas, Jr. and Christian A. Thomas; sister, Gwendolyn Moffett-Pate; nephew, Le'Edward S. Moffett-Wynn; she is also survived by her cousin/siblings Paul E. Byrd (Angela), Marvin L. Byrd (Shelia), Rosevone Byrd II (Carolyn), Crystal Byrd-Washington (Otis); a beloved godson, Kamais Stamps; a longtime friend, neighbor and surrogate sister, Roxanne Goodwin-Solomon (Cliff) and a host of additional family and friends.
