Thelbert James Thomas' Obituary
Thelbert James Thomas was born December 6, 1941, to the late Sylvester "Bubba" Thomas and Myra Harris-Thomas in Bossier Parish, Louisiana. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Cora Jacobs and Betty Campbell and many other relatives including uncles and aunts.
He attended public school at Charles H. Brown High School in Springhill, LA and graduated in the class of 1960. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Army where he received an honorable discharge. Thelbert was employed with the Missouri State Highway Patrol as a Driver Examiner.
Thelbert, fondly known as "Satellite", accepted Christ at an early age at Hopewell Baptist Church and later joined the Trinity Baptist Church in Kansas City, MO where he was an ordained deacon.
He later joined The Harrison Chapel Baptist Church. He was active in many of the activities at the church and remained a faithful member until his health begin to fail.
Thelbert married Alice Hoof on April 6, 1964. To this union one daughter was born, Sabrina Thomas.
Thelbert has a quite spirit that loved fishing, playing dominoes and his Kansas City Chiefs.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife of fifty seven years, Alice H. Thomas; his daughter, Sabrina (James, Jr.) McDonald; two sons, Andre Murray all of Kansas City, MO and Willie Tommy (Carlyton) Hoof of Springhill, LA; eight grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; his sister, Mamie Johnson of Victorville, CA; brother, Sylvester (Dorothy) Thomas, Jr.; two sisters-in-law, Jerry Holland and Clara (Joseph) Bonton all of Springhill, LA; brother-in-law, Bosie "Red" Jacobs of Kansas City, MO a childhood friend, Roy C. Thomas; his beloved classmates from Charles H. Brown High School Class of 1960, in Springhill, LA and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.

Services for Mr. Thomas will be held 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, November 2, 2021, at E. S. Eley and Sons Funeral Chapel, Inc. Burial Leavenworth National Cemetery. Friends may call from 9:00 A. M. until service time Tuesday at the chapel.
