Theo Mccalip's Obituary
Theo was born February 22, 1922, in Scott, Mississippi to the union of Willie McCalip and Lizzy Young McCalip. He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandchild, Rasheed.
Theo received his education in Scott, MS. After school he joined the U. S. Army in 1942, there he received a Purple Heart, Bronze Star Medal, Combat Infantry Badge in World War II. Upon discharge from the service he moved to Kansas City and started working at the U. S. Post Office where he later retired. While at the Post office he met and married Alberta Randolph in 1952.
In 1957, he joined Friendship Baptist Church where he remained a faithful member for over 60 years. Theo joined the Masonic Order of Amos Johnson Lodge 148, where he served for over 40 years. He loved his lodge.
Theo McCalip left this earth peacefully on Friday, May 25, 2018, in Kansas City, MO.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife for over 65 years, Alberta McCalip; daughter, Norma Smith of Dallas, TX; sister, Barbra Clark of Kansas City, MO; three grandchildren, Michael Reams, Kelly Reams and Denicia (Khari) all of San Diego, CA; eight great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews; two cousins Henry Young and Mose Young and other relatives and friends.
Services for Mr. McCalip will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday, June 1, 2018, at Friendship Baptist Church with Pastor James A. Terrance, Jr., officiating. Burial Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 9:00 A. M. until service time Friday at the church.
