Deacon Theodore Scott , 93, was born March 14, 1931, in Arkadelphia, Arkansas to the union of Henry Scott and Irene Sorrells Scott. He was one of 15 children born to this union.

Deacon received his early education in the Arkansas Public School System. Shortly after, he moved to Kansas City where he accepted Christ. He joined Gethsemane Church of God In Christ as one of the early members, under the leadership of his brother, Elder A.L. Scott. He continued his membership with Gethsemane Church of God In Christ Center of Hope under the leadership of his nephew Elder Daryl Randolph, Sr. Deacon Scott continued to serve faithfully until recently when his health began to fail.

Deacon Scott lived a life filled with purpose and devotion to his family, his church, friends, and to the community. He was a beloved husband, head deacon, parent, grandparent, sibling, uncle (Uncle Pete) and friend whose kindness, wisdom, and love left an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to know him. He led by example and therefore set the bar of emulation at the highest level.

Ted worked many years at Charlie Fisher Buick as an auto detailer. He remained there until his retirement in 1993. He was an expert automotive services technician. Being a loving and caring family man, he taught many to maintain their vehicles.  As we look back over the years, it is appropriate to recall that he maintained or performed repairs on motorized vehicles of every friend and family member. Additionally, he was known for being an avid fisherman aficionado, and he also took great pride in teaching others his techniques as well as other outdoor sport activities and safety.

He will be fondly remembered for his quiet personality, his bible based Christian Walk, his many skills and talents, his teachings in an array of areas, for his love of others and for his sense of humor.

The deacon was called home to be with the King on Monday, January 13, 2025. Waiting at Heaven's gate were both parents, Henry and Mother Irene Scott; his son, Chuck McClain; 13 siblings, Lorean Randolph, Florean King, Darlene McDaniel, Merelean Sutherlin, Rosalene Matthews, Charlene Webb, Dorothy Burns, Johnny Scott, Alonzo Scott, Henry Scott, Jr., Frank Scott, Elder A.L. Scott and Robert Scott.

Left with memories of his impact, his love of God and his huge heart are his dedicated wife of 60 years, who he adored, Queen Mary Elizabeth Scott; his pastor/nephew Elder Daryl Randolph; his daughter, Jeanette Bass (Bill); his sister, Ersielene Ruffin; daughter-in-law, Lynn McClain; grandchildren, Alexandra Bass, Joey Bass, Terrell Potter, Teddy Smothers, Chelsea McClain; 14 great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, church family, special friends, and neighbors.

Deacon Theodore Scott is deeply missed but will forever be remembered. Cherished memories will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
