Valeria Ann Bell , 94, peacefully departed this life on June 3, 2026, at her home in Raytown, Missouri. She was born on January 29, 1932, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Ellen Ann Young and Edward J. Young. At the age of four, she moved to Independence, Missouri.

Valeria graduated from Lincoln High School in Kansas City, Missouri, with the Class of 1949. She was employed at Queen of the World Hospital and KU Medical Center before beginning a distinguished career with the United States Postal Service, where she retired after 40 years of service.

Verleria was blessed to be the mother of two children,  Johnnie Ann and William Arlo.

A woman of deep faith, Valeria professed her faith in Christ, was baptized, and became a devoted member of Greenwood Missionary Baptist Church, where she later served on the Mother Board.

Valeria found joy in sewing, crocheting, baking her favorite desserts, and preparing Sunday dinners for family. She was known for her warm hospitality, strong work ethic, and unwavering devotion to her loved ones.

In her later years, her greatest joy was watching her family grow through five generations. She especially cherished spending time with her great-great-granddaughter, Ivy Reign Canady. Her family will forever treasure her stories, wisdom, kindness, and loving spirit.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ellen Ann Young and Edward J. Young; her infant son, William Arlo Bell; her brother, Edward Eugene Young.

She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Johnnie Ann York and son-in-law, Vernon York; granddaughter, Misty Dawn Wilson; great-granddaughter, Lavender Skyy Canady; great-great-granddaughter, Ivy Reign Canady; and a host of extended family members, church family, and friends.

Her legacy of faith, family, and love will continue to live on through the generations she was blessed to see flourish. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
