Vera Jo Ocrey was born on August 2nd, 1944, to Crystal and G.T. Holman Sr., who proceeded her in death. For school she attended Fayette Missouri Public Schools. In May of 1963, she married John Ocrey and to this Union they had one child, Valerie Jean Ocrey.

Vera worked at University of Missouri Medical Hospital from 1963-1968 in Columbia Missouri. She later moved to Kansas City, Mo and started working at St. Joseph Hospital from 1968 to 1972. In 1972 she started working at the Internal Revenue Service until she retired after 31 years.

Vera accepted Jesus Christ at a very early age at St Paul Methodist Church. She became a Charter Member of New Solid Rock Baptist Church from 1989 to 2013. During her membership she held many roles which included singing in the choir where she also held title of Treasurer, she was the President of the Willing Worker Committee, she taught Sunday School for the Seniors, was a member of both the Kitchen Committee and "We Care" auxiliary. Vera moved to Twin Elms Senior Apartments in 2010 and joined "The Golden Angels Community Choir" which she loved very much. This apartment is like a big family, they loved and took care of each other.

Vera leaves to mourn her passing, her daughter, Valerie Ocrey; grandchildren, LaTisha Ocrey, LaKiva Thatcher and William (Bill) Ocrey; great-grandchildren, Devionna Jackson, Marquis Williams, Devin Jackson III, and La'KyVon Hampton; great great-grandchild, Kai'Orion Jackson; brother, George Holman (Patricia Holman).  Proceeded in death, her brother, G.T. Holman Jr. (Laurene Holman) and her sister Lorraine Moore-Lockett (Enoch Lockett). She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.

Services for Mrs. Ocrey will be held at 12:00 pm Saturday, December 30, 2023, at E. S. Eley & Sons Funeral Chapel Inc.

Private Disposition. Friends may call from 10 am to 12 pm at the chapel.
