Vertee Porter, age 84, was born to Willa Ella Walker and Leroy Porter May 2, 1937, in Marianna, AR.

He moved with his first wife, Earsa Lee Porter from Marianna to Kansas City in 1962, where he resided until his death.

He served on the Deacon Board and sang in the male chorus and The Gaines Inspiration choir at Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church.  He retired from St. Luke's Hospital where he worked in Food Services.

He was a fun loving, outgoing, energetic person who loved unconditionally, especially his family. He loved to play Dominoes.

Vertee departed this life on Sunday, May 16, 2021.  He was preceded in death by his parents; daughters, Doris Porter and Alisha Johnson; son, Kenny Porter and his second wife, Robin Knox.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his children, Vertee Porter, Jr., Alvin Porter, Kevin Porter all of MO, Lorenda Ikerd, Demetria Ellis, James Johnson all of KS, Priscilla Harris of MO, Sherrie Porter and Denise Knox of KS; siblings, Marva Banks (Arthur) of Memphis, Maurice Porter (Mary) of KS, Harold Porter (Maryetta), Grady Porter (Rosey) of MO, Patricia Porter (Dannie) of KS, Charlie Porter (Barbara Ann) of IN, Eugene Porter (Yvonne, Loretta Porter, Christine Taylor both of KS, Texanna Crowley of Chicago, IL, Lena Birmingham, Bertha Jones, Teddy Ma Humphrey, Shirley Kelly (Moses) all of Rochester, NY and Diana Sanders of West VA; his partners (as he would say) Allen, Andy, Ronald, and Winnie and a host of others relatives and friends.

Services for Mr. Porter will be held 1:00 P.M. Friday, May 28, 2021, at E. S. Eley & Sons Funeral Chapel.  Friends may call from 12:00 P.M. until service time Friday at the chapel.
