Violet M. Anderson Waller born December 21, 1940, in Terlton, Oklahoma, the second child and daughter born to Warren and Thelma Black Anderson.

She received Christ at an early age and was baptized by her uncle, F.C Connery, founding pastor of Zion Grove Baptist Church of Kansas City, MO.

She attended Attucks Elementary School, R.T Coles Jr. High School, and graduated from Central Jr. High in 1959, with honors.

As a young teenager, she met "the love of her life" Charles "Sonny" Waller while visiting family in Tulsa, OK. They would later marry and raise five beautiful children together.

She continued her education attending Kansas City Junior College, now Penn Valley Community College, graduating with an AA degree. She was accepted to General Hospital School of Nursing (now Truman Medical Center).

She attended Avila College receiving a BSN, Minor in Psychology. She went on to receive a Master's in Education and earned a second Master's in Education Specialist in Curriculum & Instruction and Education. She was accepted into UMKC's doctoral program where she finished coursework to receive an Ed.D. in Education.

She had an impressive career that spanned decades where she touched many lives as a nurse and educator. She shared her vast experiences in LTC facilities, emergency rooms, VA psychiatric nursing and consulting.  Even as a patient in the hospital, she would teach the young nurses how to correctly perform a procedure that was to be performed on her.  She was a true educator.

She was an extraordinarily strong, intelligent, humorous, soft spoken, sweet-spirited woman, with a no-nonsense personality.

Violet was the first black Professor of Nursing at Graceland College, now Graceland University.

She received her 25 years of service as a member of the KS Jurisdiction of Prince Hall, 5 ^th District, OES, HOJ, Order of Cyrenes and Golden Circles until her health began to fail.

Violet was preceded in death by her parents, Warren Anderson and Thelma Mae Black Anderson; brothers, James Anderson, Earl Anderson; sister, Bessie Mae Williams; a son Darryl Waller I; a daughter-in-law, Karen Robinson Waller.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her husband of 58 years; Charles Waller; sister, Melvina Lewis Marshall; sisters-in-law, Gladys Johnson of Pontiac, MI, Patricia (Willie ,deceased) Craven, Ruby (Richard, deceased) Barnes, Brenda (Ralph) Wilson, Donna (Michael) Jasper all of Tulsa, OK; brothers-in-law, Robert (Clarrece, deceased) Waller of Tulsa, OK, Donald (Eddie) Waller of Kansas City, MO, Anthony Waller, Gerald Waller; her children, Cheryl Jones all of Tulsa, OK, Nicki (John) Brice of Grandview, MO; Marcia (Tim Powell) Waller, Jeffrey Waller, Maury Waller all of Kansas City, MO; grandchildren, Ashley (Terreze Seiber) Warren of Murfreesboro, TN, Darian (Hermine) Waller of Raytown, MO, Shanise (Ozioma) Uwom of Houston, TX, Darryl Waller II, Darren Austin Hall both of Kansas City, MO; great-grandchildren, Aziyah Waller of Raytown, MO, Lea Marie Seiber of Murfreesboro, TN; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins friends and classmates.
