Willie Mae L. Hughes Osborn was born in Prescott, Arkansas, on October 3, 1927, to the late Willie L. and Daisy Hughes. Willie Mae was the 4th of 8 children. She was preceded in death by three sons, Raymond, Jerry, and Eugene Osborn; husband, Pervis J. Osborn; and six siblings.

Willie Mae accepted Christ at an early age and maintained her walk and faith in Christ until her departure from this life. She was a member of St. Stephen Church for over 70 years. She enjoyed singing in the choir and would volunteer with Sunday School and Senior Services until her health diminished.

Willie Mae graduated in June of 1945 from Central High School in Madison, Wisconsin. Shortly afterwards, she met and married Pervis J. Osborn upon his return from the war. They married in June of 1946. Pervis (PJ) and Willie Mae moved to Kansas City, Missouri from Arkansas. To this union, they were blessed with four sons and one daughter.

Willie Mae became a widow after 15 years of marriage. She never remarried. She continued to work and maintain the home while raising five kids. Despite the struggle, Willie attended PTA meetings and was an active member of the Ivanhoe District Activities. She was a model citizen and was available to assist anyone who needed her assistance, wisdom, or wit.

Willie Mae was always a helper. At the age of 12, Willie Mae cared for two nephews and her three younger siblings, while her mother worked supporting the family. Her caring spirit continued into adulthood where she cared for her ailing father until his death.

At the age of 97, Mrs. Willie Mae lived a blessed life here on earth: making a difference in so many lives. She had many aliases and was affectionately known as Mom, Lady, and Grandma.

Willie Mae departed this life on January 25, 2025, peacefully in her sleep while residing at her son James' home.

Willie Mae leaves to cherish her memory one son, James (Debra); one daughter, Paula; one sibling, Johnnie Ruth Neal; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family, and friends.
