Zelma Dockery was born January 25, 1925, in Vian, Oklahoma to union of Robert and Alberta Herron.  She was preceded in death by both parents Robert and Alberta Herron.  Son Albert "Butch" Dockery, one grandson Albert Dockery, six brothers and one sister.

She started working during high school at a store cafeteria then Macy's Tea Room and went to work at several other food service jobs up until she retired.  Zelma was a very good cook and loved cooking holiday meals for her family.  Zelma enjoyed sharing family photos, introducing her family members and talking about the farm she grew up on.

During retirement Zelma enjoyed holiday and birthday celebrations with the family, living independently, going to church on Sundays, crossword puzzles, word searches, gospel music, grocery shopping and store shopping on Saturdays.

Zelma was a member of Palestine Missionary Baptist Church of Jesus Christ.

Zelma Dockery passed away Monday, February 17, 2020, at Bishop Spencer Place, she was 95.  Zelma lived a peaceful life and will be missed by family and loved ones.

Zelma is survived by: one daughter, Shirley (Lynn) Trice; one son, Terry Dockery (Carla); daughter in law, Sharon Dockery; brother, Raymond (Angela) Herron; sister, Mae Ottis Hutchinson; 5 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.

Services for Mrs. Dockery will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday, February 28, 2020, at Palestine Missionary Baptist Church.  Burial in Forest Hill Cemetery.  Friends may call from 9:00 A.M. until service time Friday at the church.
